7.4 Associative Memories

One of the most widespread applications of Hopfield networks are binary associative memories , also called content-addressable memories. The purpose of an associative memory is to recover a pattern, which was previously stored in its structure, from a partial sample (incomplete) or a noisy sample (distorted) of the original pattern (Hopfield 1982). Figure 7.5 illustrates an original version for a particular pattern and two samples with incorrect versions.
